Get it Trump!!!

Hey I'm an incoming freshman and want to know a little about what's gonna go on during band camp this August.  Also, try-out wise, what exactly will we be graded/judged/evaluated (all those types of words) on?  I'm not scared or nothing, I mean, I'm near close to the best you can get when it comes to marching and playing. JK, but no, I'm good and all, but just want an idea.  oh yeah, and if you were wonderin' about the title, "GET IT TRUMP," that was what my trumpet section would yell during practices and whatnot, kind of our motto.  Oh well, you pry don't get it or even care; thought it was sorta cool though.  Thanks (hope someone reads + responds)

Okay Mr. Stevens, you silly arrogant man you, I will try my best to obliterate your curiosity. You are going to go to band camp and be taught how to be like me (AAMB Member) and lets face it, everyone wants to be like me (AAMB Member).

The Audition for the band is in two parts: Musical, and Physical. Musically you will have your playing ability looked at (range, prettiness,ect...), that puts you on a part and for the physical audtiton you will have your marching looked at. So staying in shape over the summer both musically and physically will help you ease in. But you should be getting or you already have a packet of information that will give detail all about this.

just some advise
You wont be alone in any confusion you might have so the saying "all your questions are stupid" applies with us too...wait... that's not right... maybe "not all your questions are stupid" or something to do with "no","stupid", and "questions"... I dunno, just don't get your panties in a bunch cause there are plenty of me (AAMB Members) to talk to and help you out.

Long story short you owe me a coke, see you around!

I'll try to post another comment to this post sometime soon, maybe this weekend. I'd like to give you a few more details than Bill provided, not that you didn't do an excellent job Bill, haha.

Trumpet mottos/cheers are great! We've got our own, but I'm afraid we probably won't be introducing "Get It Trump!" And don't worry, you will learn ours soon enough.

As far as the week of band camp goes, the first night, Sunday night you will have your playing audition. This is when part assignments are decided.

Throughout the week, we will be teaching you our marching style, which is most likely different than how you marched in high school. The entire week is your audition process. We will be watching you and seeing how you progress in learning our marching style, as well as making sure you have a positive and will fit in well with the section.

Towards the end of the week we will choose membership for the section. Realize that EVERYBODY is auditioning for a spot in the section. Upperclassmen aren't automatically in just because they've marched before. If we see that rookies are doing better than upperclassmen, we will choose rookies. We make sure to emphasize this to everybody.

If you have any further questions, please ask!
