FTP Server & File Sharing

Purdue Trumpets,

We have an all new and easy-to-use system for sharing photos, videos, and other electronic files within the section, with alumni, and with prospective members. All the details about and instructions for using this new FTP (File Transfer Protocol) system have been posted to the MEMBERS ONLY page of PurdueTrumpets.com. If you do not have the current username and password, please do not hesitate to email the webmaster at webmaster@purduetrumpets.com.

By using this new system we hope to facilitate the sharing of great full-resolution (not poor quality Facebook ones) photos and videos of the Purdue Trumpet Section among members and alumni. Your contributions will also aid in developing PurdueTrumpets.com to be one of the best section websites out there. Upload your material today and become the face of Purdue Trumpets online!

If you have any restrictions on how material being uploaded is used, for example, "to be shared with Purdue Trumpets only" or "general public", simply denote this in the folder titles you upload or email the webmaster.

Thank you in advance for your continued dedication, support and contributions to the Purdue Trumpet Section and PurdueTrumpets.com!

Summer Vacation!

Has anybody gone anywhere exciting for vacation this summer? I'm currently on vacation until next Saturday with my parents and brother, Brian, at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. We determined that this is apparently our 18th time coming here for vacation. :-D

So... where have you gone this summer?

Do you know of any good storage places around Purdue?

Hello to anybody,

I'm looking for a place to store some things between July and August when I will be out of my previous apartment but not yet able to move into my new apartment. Do any of you know of any good storage places around West Lafayette? If you do, let me know. Thanks!

Eric

A note to all seniors and to members of Rank 7

Ever heard of Picasa? Yeah, it's that photo editing software from Google. Ever heard of Picasa Web Albums? Yeah, it's a place where you can upload and share photos... also from Google. Oh, Google, how you make the internet such a lovely place...

Anyway, via Picasa and Picasa Web Albums, I've uploaded some photos in their full resolution format (no dumbed down facebook resolution) available for you to peruse and download as you please. I've uploaded photos from Senior Gold Day and the Senior events at the IU game (for the seniors) and pictures of my rank throughout the season (for rank 7). All of these pictures are pictures taken by my mom (and the occasional photo taken by my dad) throughout the season. So, feel free to browse and download whatever you like!

For Senior Gold Day pictures, click here: Senior Gold Day 2008

For Senior events from the IU game, click here: Senior Day 2008

For pictures of Rank 7, click here: Rank 7 for 2008

Enjoy!

Two (more) Sub Requests

Hey gang.

I have an exam this Thursday, so I am forced to ask for a sub for this Thursday's GABS game vs. Maryland. Coach Versyp is feeding us, so this gig comes with free food. Call time is 5:45, and should be a great game.

Also, I'm not going to be able to go to the New Years Day game vs. Michigan State, so if anyone in town would be able to cover me for that, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

Sub for Boiler Box Band on Saturday

Hey gang.
I know it's ridiculously late notice, but if anyone could sub for me at the Boiler Box Band game on Saturday, I'd really appreciate it,
Call time is 6:15 pm.
I'd be willing to trade this for future subs at a Boiler Brass game, or another price to be negotiated.
Thanks so much!

Here's Genetic Fallacy For You

Two Quotes From Barack Obama:

"The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, you know, there's a reaction that's been bred in our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that's just the nature of race in our society."

"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." --explaining his troubles winning over some working-class voters

Um, ok. If this isn't genetic fallacy, what is? If you are reading this and have found that you've been struck with confusion because you have no idea what 'genetic fallacy' means, then let me help you out. It's defined as a conclusion is based on an argument that the origins of a person, idea, institute, or theory determine its character, nature, or worth. Hmm, in the first quote, the one about his grandmother, Obama claims that all people (not just whites), are prejudice toward other races because there is some inescapable force influencing them from within. So racism is...natural? According to what Obama said, it's not grandma's fault she says some bad things every now and then.  If not, please correct me now, but that's what I got.

In the second quote, which I'm sure nearly all of you have heard before, Obama basically comes out and calls all of middle America ignorant, too dumb to understand their own frustrations.  What?  He wants to be president of the US and is putting himself on a pedestal, like he's better, more educated.  I wonder how many people from that part of the country he's actually stopped to talk to in order to come up with that opinion.  Maybe instead of preaching in Europe, he should start talking to his own country because that is one of the most prejudice things I have heard in my lifetime from someone who's supposed to lead this country.

ANOTHER ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT, PLEASE DON'T BE A OFFENDED, ARGUE WITH ME ALL YOU WANT.     :)
