Hey All! So to piggy back on the email Eric sent out to all of you:
I am in the OPS office, and I don't recommend drinking from the water jugs if you don't have to... mainly for two reasons:
1. long lines, like he already mentioned
2. i know where that water comes from... sometimes it isn't the greatest, and its not always cold (that only happens when we feel up to getting ice)
its not going to kill you at all, you just might feel a little strange ;) just kidding
water bottles and nalgene bottles rock, just a thought though

Audition Music Update
Music has been posted on the website.

Also, 2nd part fight songs have been posted
(why only 2nd, well, I don't have a scanner and no one has sent me 1st and 3rd to put up... so if you would like to help out, please send me a PDF of the pregame and songs and fight songs, this includes the national anthem)
I hope this helps those who still need music.
Also, the videos have been updated. I will add one or two more before band camp starts. If you want to add photos to the photobucket page, please do that as well.

Trumpet Away Trip
I'll make this first post short:
Every year the trumpets try to go to an away game so that we can be fans, and not in the band. Its also a ton of fun.
Location idea: Ohio State
date: 10/11/08
time: TBA
these are all the details i have at this point. Tickets are probably already on sale, but i suppose we need to wait until we are actually at school and can communicate with everyone in the section better. However, I would like to have more concrete plans by the first week of classes, and be able to order tickets by that week.

Colored mouthpieces
As mentioned by Michelle, colored mouthpieces will not be allowed at performances starting this year.
The exceptions will be black, gold and neutral colors like clear. If you don't know if a mouthpiece is okay, probably shouldn't use it, but at least ask before you do.

Message from Pat Newton: Audition music for the season has been mailed out to incoming freshmen, and just recently on Friday, July 11th to upperclassmen. If you do not recieve the music in the mail please contact the band office.
NOTE: to those of you who were not too thrilled about last year's music choice, the directors have decided to return to the previous method for music auditions: scales, technique exercizes, and good ol' 'Hail Purdue'! Don't freak out if the music is not what you remember it to be.

music
I got my audition music today!! As far as I can tell, it's the same as it was in 2006 and before. But I didn't get the second page of it, for some reason. I was wondering if anyone else got it yet, and if they have a scanner or fax machine and wouldn't mind sending it to me, cuz otherwise it'll take atleast another 3 days for me to get it. :'(

Hey I'm an incoming freshman and want to know a little about what's gonna go on during band camp this August. Also, try-out wise, what exactly will we be graded/judged/evaluated (all those types of words) on? I'm not scared or nothing, I mean, I'm near close to the best you can get when it comes to marching and playing. JK, but no, I'm good and all, but just want an idea. oh yeah, and if you were wonderin' about the title, "GET IT TRUMP," that was what my trumpet section would yell during practices and whatnot, kind of our motto. Oh well, you pry don't get it or even care; thought it was sorta cool though. Thanks (hope someone reads + responds)

Just Wondering
I'm an incoming freshman, hoping to play trumpet in the marching band (obviously :-] ).
I played trumpet in marching band at my high school. However, in concert band I played oboe. How much of a dampener would this put on my chances of making it into Purdue's marching band?

Drug Dealing
Ah drug dealing. This is the activity that makes up my summer. However, I must admit, that this job of mine is legal (sorry all you seekers). I'm a pharmacy tech at a local independent retail pharmacy. What are your summer jobs, oh Purdue trumpet section? And yes Eric, we all know yours is fighting crime in spandex. Stop reminding us!
